We are starting our last two units of study. The following standards will be addressed in our last two chapters (Chapters 13 and 14). The concepts in green are ones that we began discussing prior to Spring Break. We will dive deeper into these concepts this week. 4.G.1 Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (i.e., right, acute, obtuse), and parallel and perpendicular lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures. 4.G.2 Classify quadrilaterals based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines. 4.G.3 Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles. 4.G.4 Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry. 4.MDA.5 Understand the relationship of an angle measurement to a circle. 4.MDA.6 Measure and draw angles in whole number degrees using a protractor. 4.MDA.7 Solve addition and subtraction problems to find unknown angles in real-world and mathematical problems. | We are currently in our Light and Sound Unit. Students are in the process of creating model homes (virtual) to show their understanding of transparent (reflect light), translucent (refract light), opaque (absorb light) objects and how to change the pitch of sounds. Students have been tasked with finding items to place in their homes that are transparent, translucent, and opaque and as well as items that they are able to change the pitch of. |
With our benchmark assessments complete, we have valuable information needed to prepare for the SC Ready tests. This week, we will focus on reading multiple texts while summarizing and comparing/contrasting themes, topics, characters, perspectives, etc in the text. Students will use quotation journals to pick out key details, characters statements, thoughts, actions to determine importance to the plot/themes/perspectives and then use this information to compare to the plot/themes... of similar texts. Essentially, our focus in reading this week will be being able to analyze and compare/contrast two text at once. |
